Texas Regional Art Gallery
The Art Gallery is located at the Texas Cultural Centre and is open Tuesdays to Fridays from 10am to 4pm and Saturdays from 10am to 1pm. The Gallery is ran entirely by volunteers and shows an array of excellent artworks by various artists. Free admission.
Texas Heritage Centre & Tobacco Museum
The Museum houses an ever growing display of tobacco memorabilia tracing the growing of the crop from its establishment to its demise in the Dumaresq Valley. There is over 2000 catalogued items at the Museum and is well worth a visit. All displays and items are from the Texas area. The Centre is open Saturdays from 11am to 3.30pm and can be open by arrangement at other times.
Texas Riverside Rabbit Freezing Works
The Riverside Centre is currently being restored by the Texas Visitors Association and is open by appointment. The Centre currently houses the CR Wilson Display which is a fascinating exhibit of various items from times gone by.
Texas Cottage Industries
Craft shop selling locally made items. Open Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 4.30pm and Saturdays from 9am to 12 noon.
Old Texas
There are just a few remains of the “original” Texas, which was moved to the present site after the 1890 and 1921 floods.
Silverspur
Deposits of silver/lead and silver/copper were mined from 1893-1913. The population of the town reached 700 in 1910. A railway survey to connect Texas and Silverspur was completed in 1912 but the line was never laid.
Smithfield
The name was derived from two English settlers – Smith and Corfield. in recent years the name was changed to Smithlea by the postal authorities. Cheese making was a successful enterprise in the area, supplying the tin miners in Stanthorpe.
Cunningham
in 1827 explorer Allan Cunningham crossed the Dumaresq River near the present site of the Cunningham Weir.
Pecan Park
The Pecan trees were planted and donated by the people of Texas, USA, and dedicated to the town of Texas, Queensland, in friendship and goodwill on 10th September 1988.
The Beacon Lookout
Built and maintained by the Texas Visitors Association Inc. on land donated by the Kemp family.
Glenlyon Dam

Goat Rock
Camping ground, picnic facilities, showers and toilets set in beautiful bushland near Texas. The natural clearing is surrounded by granite boulders and enormous Moreton Bay Fig Trees. Goat Rock itself is a fantastic vantage point for a 360 degree view of the Texas area.
