The Complex was established in 1972 in the historic Police House built in 1890.  There is over 2000 catalogued items held in the Museum.

Tobacco Museum

Tobacco was grown in the Texas District for over 100 years, last crops grown in 1994.

In the 1960’s and 70’s hundreds of people were employed in the largest industry in the district.

The combination of the tobacco industry and trade in rabbit skins to skin buyers and the supplying of rabbits to the Texas Freezing Works helped the people of the are survive the depression of the 1930’s.

The Museum contains all equipment used in the labour intensive tobacco industry and photographs and a video of men and women at work.

Heritage Centre

Includes a School Room with the teacher aids of 50 years ago.
